They put up these signs thousands of miles away, saying things like “3,215 miles to Walldrug.” This generated what is called buzz – people wanted to find out what these advertising signs meant and what walldrug was, so they came there. They also wanted to be among the people to see this extraordinary tourist attraction, in the middle of nowhere with signs all around the world advertising it. If you've ver been there, as I have, the joke is on you. There really is nothing there, except souveneir shops and a lousy restaurant or too, but people keep coming because they were so successful with placing their advertising signs for all that.
