Patty-Cake
Nursery rhymes with
movement, board books, finger plays and more for babies
birth to 17 months with a parent/caregiver. Provides
children with a foundation for later print literacy,
encourages parents to take part in literacy-related
activities, and establishes the library as an enjoyable
place to go.
Toddler Time
Simple picture books, big books, finger plays, songs and
movement for children 18-35 months with a parent/caregiver.
Develops pre-literacy skills through vocabulary, rhyme and
rhythm. Helps children to be prepared for learning to read.
Picture Book Time
Picture books, big books, flannel board stories, rhymes with
movement for ages 3 and 4. This program continues to help
with developing early literacy skills. Parents do not
accompany children, to promote self-confidence and
independence.
Story Time
Longer picture books, big books, flannel board stories and
other activities for 5-year-olds. Parents do not accompany
children. This program strengthens children's early literacy
and social skills, and reinforces the association of the
library with enjoyment.
Please,
- Arrive on
time! It is not fair to your child or the other children if
there are interruptions.
- Stay in the
library while your child is at story time.
- Do not give
them food, drinks, or toys before entering story time.
- Call us if
your child won’t be attending.
- Siblings
are welcome as long as they are not disruptive to the
program.
- If you are in the story
time with your child, please stay focused on the activities.
Background conversations are distracting to everyone.
Throughout the
year we offer special programming; registration is required
unless noted that it is a Drop-in program.
