Job fairs

What you are about to read is the culmination of information from many different places and resources. I hope you enjoy it.

The company that I work for recruits new employees through job fairs. Whether we have a display at community job fairs or hold our own privately, the some of the best employees can be located through job fairs. It is not only a great way to find new workers but it is also a great way to reach out to the community. It's a secret form of advertising that doesn't cost nearly as much as placing an ad in the newspapers. I will warn you though, that you may get quite a few applications and resumes that you will most likely toss the moment the person walks away. However, you'll find that very same problem if you have resumes mailed to your company. There is no way to guarantee that every application will be appealing most people would agree that.

On the flip side, those who are seeking a new job should actively attend job fairs. Many times, companies don't bother to advertise smaller but equally important jobs. They may just wait until those anticipated job fairs to make the smaller positions publicly known. If you are applying for positions through job fairs, make sure you take plenty of resumes along with you. I can't tell you how many promising applicants have approached me and not had a resume in their hand. I will not bother to give them a second glance. Being prepared when you are attending job fairs is essential. Dress as if you are actually going on a job interview. I frequently see people walking around very casual attire and wonder what in the world they are thinking. If you are seeking a production line job, that attire is absolutely fine. However, if you even want to be considered for an office position or a job that deals with the public, dress to impress. Job fairs may look like they are casual and informal, which they are, but stil for example.

take a moment to look presentable. Employers will remember the candidates that they met at the job fairs and you want them to remember you for having made a good impression, not a bad one another example.

When attending job fairs, keep in mind that some companies may do nothing more than hand you an application and provide a little bit of information. Other companies may interview you on the spot. That's why it is vital to dress to impress. Keep in mind that while the company may be interviewing you and checking you out, you should also be interviewing them. Ask lots of questions. Not only does it help you to determine if you're even interested in working for a company, but it lets your potential employers know that you are interested and inquisitive consequently.
