bus advertising don't worry, though. we're going to cover

02/01/2008

The other day, while I was waiting for a bus at the local bus station, I was attracted to another bus on the other side of the road. It was a bus like any other, but it had this paint job of huge termites, roaches and other creepy crawlies on it. While the visual was realistic and disturbing enough to make me believe that there had been an invasion of the insects, I was much relieved to see that it was merely the latest example of advertising innovation at work to sell a popular bug spray. What I had witnessed was a fine example of moving media advertising, or more specifically, bus advertising!

Many different sources were used for this article. I hope you find it both interesting and helpful.

Due to the competitive nature of the industry and the limited shelf life of cutting edge creativity, the practitioners of advertising are constantly looking around for ways to make their advertising seem more visible. While the copy and content of the ads can be varied, tweaked and changed to grab the attention, the fact remains that there is far too much clutter in our newspapers, magazines, television and the Internet to make any one advertiser stand out and grab all the attention. This has resulted in a quest for newer and more personalized delivery channels. For a while, radically different methods were adopted. Some advertisers took to painting whole buildings with the corporate logo of the brands they represented while others flew hot air balloons and zeppelins to grab attention. But it was the person who came up with the idea of bus advertising who needs to be commended for excellence in strategy most people would agree that.

Think about it. The United States of America alone has hundreds of thousands of buses that criss cross the country and individual cities on a daily basis. Not, most of these buses pass through heavily trafficked areas each day. And while most of them might have a paint job that signifies the operator’s logo or colors, painting them to represent global brands was a pure stroke of genius! This is what has com to be known as bus advertising. Bus advertising may have started off as an innovative way for smaller agencies to advertise the products and services of their clients. But of late, bus advertising has become an essential component of the media strategy of even the largest agencies in order to make their brands more visible and thereby to raise the sales and marketing figures. Bus advertising is simple, cost effective, efficient and manages to reach a vast majority of the target audience making it a compelling channel of advertising to start off.

As for me, I am all for bus advertising. It adds more color to the city scape and gives everyday commuters the joy of riding in colorful, gaily painted buses. I must admit that I was beginning to tire of the same grayish colored buses that I took to and from work on a daily buses. Nowadays, thanks to the art of bus advertising, I have a lot more to look forward to than the grumpy bus driver and my sour faced co passengers. I have the attractive designs from large advertisers to interest, enthrall and amuse me. Whether I actually end up buying the products and services they are peddling is something that remains to be seen. But with a compelling genre like bus advertising, you can be sure that the next time I’m shopping for bug spray, a gaily painted bus will make my decision so much the easier afterward.

This information was a culmination from many different places and resources. You should never just believe one resource and you should study a subject from a few different perspectives.
